Who are we?

It’s true! Decker’s Auto first started in the automotive business as a wrecker. The early days of vehicle purchasing had one major flaw: the need to buy or replace worn parts. Peter Decker bought land on what is now Grimmer and Kingsway.

He placed himself right behind the new dealership that had just opened in town. After a vehicle became disabled, he was first on the auction block to obtain the rights to it. As the auto parts industry was forming, Peter was a pioneer, offering salvage parts at a discount. His business began booming.

1978 came around, and Decker’s Auto Parts was born, led by Wayne Decker. Leaving the wrecking yard behind, Decker’s Auto became a household name in the auto parts industry, opening over 5 stores in the Lower Mainland alone.

By changing how the parts business was run, they demonstrated what the public needed from aftermarket parts suppliers and installers. By holding multiple seminars and training sessions, the automotive parts business would be forever revolutionised.

Fast-forward to 1998: Decker’s Auto Brake and Auto Centre is born. Now, leaving the parts business behind, Wayne and his team of technicians began their journey to what is now a namesake in Burnaby. Offering a no-frills, no-gimmicks attitude, the drivers in the area surrounded his bay doors.

After only a few years, Grimmer Street had been re-zoned to a residential area, and the dealership across the street was long gone.

Decker’s Auto moved a few blocks east on Gilley Ave. Although the team has changed from what some may remember, the owner has been ever-present. With over 40 years in the automotive industry, Wayne shares his knowledge with his technicians, who consistently strive to provide the best possible service.
